History

FirstFed Bancorp, Inc. (the “Company”) is a financial holding company headquartered in Bessemer, Alabama. It serves portions of the greater Birmingham metropolitan area and counties to the south and west through its bank subsidiary, First Financial Bank (“First Financial”). First Financial is a state chartered commercial bank originally chartered in 1936. First Financial offers traditional deposit and loan products. First Financial conducts its business through nine offices, one each in Bessemer, Centreville, Hueytown, McCalla, Pelham, Hoover, Vance, West Blocton, and Woodstock, Alabama. First Financial Bank was created by the merger of First Federal Savings Bank and First State Bank of Bibb County. The name was then changed to First Financial Bank.

Notice of Expiration of the Temporary Full FDIC Insurance Coverage for Non-Interest Bearing Transaction Accounts

By operation of federal law, beginning January 1, 2013, funds deposited in a non-interest bearing transaction account  (including interest on Lawyer Trust Accounts IOLTA's) no longer will receive unlimited deposit insurance coverage by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). Beginning January 1, 2013, all of a depositor's accounts at an insured depository instituion, including all non-interest bearing transaction accounts, will be insured by the FDIC up to the standard maximum deposit insurance amount ($250,000.00), for each deposit insurance ownership category.
